It also utilizes tags (called “SmartTags”) to turn it into a shot tracker that records every club you have used in your game.

The watch is more function over form, although it can be a bit reasonably stylish – it is great to go with your golf shirts. The watch is quite bulky to wear because of the internal GPS antenna. But when we’re talking about GPS watches for golfers. However, the weight is evenly distributed, so it still feels comfortable around your wrist.

The SkyCaddie LINX GT GPS Watch is pre-loaded with over 35,000-course maps worldwide, just like many other GPS golf watches.

The buttons are quite responsive, whether you are holding one of them down to bring the main menu on the screen or doing a quick push to choose whatever function on the watch that you desire. However, in the long run, the fun of pushing and holding down the button to make the main menu appear quickly loses its appeal. You would just wish that the watch would be better off if it comes with a touchscreen.

The SkyCaddie LINX GT GPS is re-chargeable. It uses a mini USB adaptor, which you can attach to the supplied cord to magnetically click onto the back of the watch.

Scoring – you can activate the scoring by pushing and holding down the middle right button to enter your score, fairway hit or side missed, and putts. The screen defaults to the par for the hole when you scroll the watch up and down. Doing this is quite easy with pushing the up and down buttons.

The SkyCaddie LINX is also a handy way to get your yardages, which depend on SkyCaddie’s in-depth maps where they walk each course. Push the middle button on the right, and that will bring you to the yardage mode. In this mode, it shows you the hazards on each hole.

As a GPS watch, the SkyCaddie LINX GT GPS Watch can automatically record your shots as you play. Add the club manually using the SkyCaddie companion app in real-time so that it can record your shots. While you’re playing, the watch works in sync with the SkyCaddie app so that you will be able to take a look at the yardages for each hole, where you have taken your shots and your position on the map.

The SkyCaddie LINX GT GPS Watch also comes with an odometer. The device’s GPS functionality proves to be very accurate, which is quite impressive.

You can upgrade for the LINX’s Game Tracking edition for a fee for a much more integrated experience.   This watch is SmartTag ready, and as you upgrade to the Game Tracking edition, you will receive 15 SmartTags, which you will screw to the butt of the grip of each club. Setting this up will take around 10 minutes so that the SkyCaddie companion app can recognize which tag is attached to which club. Then before or after every shot, tap the SkyGolf logo on your watch’s top screen. It will vibrate, which tells you that it has recorded the club that you have used at that GPS location.
